# Limitations and disclaimer

> What a score is not — read this before acting on anything Atlas publishes.

* A score is an **opinion**, formed from public on-chain and protocol data. It is not a
  guarantee and not a promise about any vault.
* Scores can be wrong. Data can be stale, incomplete, or misreported at the source, and
  the model can misjudge a vault.
* Smart-contract risk can never be fully scored away. A high Safety score lowers the
  odds of failure; it does not remove them. Any contract can be exploited.
* Past performance is not future results. A strong track record is evidence, not a
  forecast.
